Fall Blues

IMG_6688

I’m always looking forward to Fall as I can restock my closet with clothes in darker colors . You don’t have to necessarily match with the colors of leaves, though. Nothing against dark green and amber, but dark blues are safe and always look good. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the office or on a weekend getaway.

Black Wingtips all the way. I wear these blucher style wingtips all the time as they’re sturdy and look more chunky than the typical oxfords, which looks better with heavier fabrics such as tweed or jeans. The ones I’m wearing are Grafton from Church’s.

Spring in full swing

Back alleys in downtown Vancouver always intrigued me. When you enter one of them, you no longer feel safe. They’re dark and unpredictable.

Back alleys have a bright side too – you can avoid crowds of pedestrians on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Light neutral tones such as the color of this oxford suit jacket are perfect for spring. They’re not good friends with ketchup, though. Better be careful when dipping that fry. Now let’s add some color. Oxford shirt with a floral pattern and a gingham pocket square will do the trick. Vintage watch completes the outfit and gives it an edge.

Enjoying sunset with sour skittles. Waterfront station behind me. Gotta love this remarkable city.

Valentine’s day 2015. For some of us, a special occasion, for others just a day as any other.

There’s something about Vancouver that always makes you think that you should go out when it’s nice outside. It is perhaps the fact that it rains here 161 days per year.

Tweed suit is perfect for colder months. I’ve worn it since September. The light grey color you see here allows you to effortlessly combine the suit with any shirt color and accessories. For today, I went with blue oxford shirt reminiscent of denim.

Allen Edmonds usually feature a few sales periods throughout the year. I was hesitant about purchasing these wingtips in October as they were outside my price range but 30% off sealed the deal. I didn’t experience any buyer’s remorse this time as these have become my go-to-pair for longer walks due to its incredible level of comfort.

Poppies would make an interesting photo background. Let’s take a photo right here. Allen Edmonds Strand brogues in walnut always look good with dark jeans.

Houndstooth is a fool-proof pattern for winter suit jackets. I’ve added an extra layer of warmth with a cashmere V-neck sweater. I know it doesn’t look outside as in the rest of Canada but hey, it’s still February, ok? The versatile timepiece you see above is powered by a Swiss made automatic movement and it costs a fraction of the Submariner while looking almost alike. This was a no-brainer for me.

What am I standing on? If you guessed a bunker from WWII, you are correct. These photos were taken while I was visiting my parents in Bratislava. Gotta stay sharp even during the Christmas time, right?

If I would be allowed to take only one pair of shoes with me, it would have to be a pair of black wingtip brogues. These match with pretty much everything.

Tweed Suit Plaid Shirt Black Tie Oxblood Wingtips

Back to Vancouver for the weekend. It’s good to be back. One more reason to be excited: It’s fall – my favourite season of the year. Nothing tops the chilly evenings and a smell of burning wood in the neighborhood. These stairs lead to an ice rink right next to my house.

I’ve stumbled upon these Happy Socks at the Bay and I knew that these would complement darker shoes quite well.

Highrise buildings in Yaletown. One would hardly believe that this area used to be full of old warehouses until 1980’s.
